Who are we? |

Honeydale Audio is a specialist HiFi dealership
operating from Barnstaple, Devon. The owner, Robin Urwick, has been an
authorised Naim dealer for nearly two decades, and was formerly
co-owner of a successful business in Shrewsbury.

Why do we do what we do? |

Our belief is that, in the hurly burly complexity of modern
life, music has an important role to play in maintaining a
happy home. Live music, of all types, stimulates the soul,
and infuses the listener with vigour and zest for life. A
quality HiFi system can weave the same magic in your living
room - every day of the year.
"For the times, they are a changing", sang a young
Bob Dylan back in the 60s, and they certainly are today for
the Recording and HiFi industries. New formats, new ways of
accessing music and new trends in purchasing goods seem to
offer consumers more choice - but can lead to confusion and
disappointment. The sad truth of the matter, is that many
people now do not have a HiFi system worthy of the name. These
people are missing out on the magic of music … we're
here to put that right.

"I've already got a 'stereo' - why should I buy another

These days, the words 'stereo' and 'HiFi' are applied to
almost anything which reproduces music. However, a real HiFi
system, comprising of one or more sources (CD, record player
etc), an amplifier, and a pair of loudspeakers, is capable
of doing far more than merely allowing you to recognise which
song is playing. If your HiFi isn't capable of making the
hairs stand up on the back of your neck, or sending a shiver
down your spine, then it isn't good enough …. it's
not communicating with you. Musicians, especially good ones,
transmit heart-felt emotions through their instrument or voice;
a real HiFi can reproduce these emotions with stunning force
and accuracy - allowing you to share in the power and beauty
of the musicians' talent. Put simply, a quality HiFi enhances
your life in a way very few other 'consumer products' can
do. You owe it to yourself and your family to buy one today!

In some cases, you shouldn't! Firstly, a
quality HiFi should be chosen by listening to it beforehand,
either in a specialist dealer's demonstration lounge,
or in your home (if they provide this facility). Secondly,
your chosen system should then be installed by the dealer
to ensure that the system can perform at its best. Clearly,
neither of these requirements are easy or possible to
fulfil if you buy over the Internet or phone, or if you
live in the Outer Hebrides (we're in Devon!). So,
your first step towards buying a quality HiFi should be
to visit your local specialist dealer - you can find out
where some of the best are via the 'Dealer locater' links
on the Naim and Rega websites. Assuming you like the way
these dealers treat you, you should buy from them. Of
course, if you live in or near Devon, we hope you'll
be contacting us! However, if you don't get on with your
local dealer for any reason, and would rather deal with
us ('cos we're really nice!), then you will be more than
welcome - just bear in mind that if you do live in the
Outer Hebrides we may need more than a cup of tea to revive
us when we come to install your HiFi! |
